You’ve had your site measured and placed your deposit; your shutters are now on order – but what happens next? We get a lot of questions about how installation works and how people need to prepare for it, so we thought we’d group them into one article and provide our customers with as much information as possible.

Let’s get started:

1. What Do I Need To Do To Prepare For Installation?

To install your roller shutters, we will need access to your windows and openings, and we’ll often need to work in your garden. Please trim back any excess foliage so that we can gain access without damaging anything in your garden. Our installers will be happy to assist you moving any large pot plants or furniture on the day if these are too heavy for you to manage.

Additionally, our electrician will need access to the areas where you are having the switches installed. We also recommend you clear away small items on desks and dressers, as this makes it easier for us to cover your furniture with sheets to protect them from dust.

2. Will There Be Much Disruption?

The physical access we need will create some disruption. Our electrician will also need to turn the power off for between 10 and 30 minutes while installing electric roller shutters or electric outdoor blinds. We recommend that you shut down all computers in your house before this happens to avoid losing work. Our electrician will always give you notice before turning off the power.

3. Do I Need To Be At Home For The Installation?

You do not need to be at home for the entire installation. Many customers meet our installers on-site at the beginning of the day and then return upon completion. We do recommend you return before our installers have left so that you can check you are happy with the installation, and so our installers can show you how to operate your new blinds correctly.

4. Does NuStyle Have Insurance?

Yes. All of our staff, including sales staff and electricians, are insured – including public liability – for both themselves and the work they carry out in your home. Our vehicles and production facilities are also insured. Copies of our insurance certificates are available on request.

5. How Many Tradesmen Will Be Required For My Installation?

A typical job will involve 2 NuStyle shutter installers plus a qualified specialist electrician. Our tradesmen work as a team on all our jobs to make sure the work is completed and fully-functional on the day of installation. In some cases, additional shutter technicians may also attend your installation. This is likely when your job involves working at heights or heavy lifting.

6. Do You Remove Any Rubbish?

Yes, our teams will do everything they can to ensure they leave your property as tidy and clean as they found it. Our teams conduct a thorough clean after every job, use protective sheets where necessary and will be happy to remove shoes before entering your property. We also use a vacuum cleaner while drilling to ensure your home remains free from dust.

7. What Happens If Something Is Faulty?

If it’s broke, we’ll fix it, but this rarely happens. If you maintain your roller shutters and outdoor blinds well, you should have years of use without issue.

If you do find a problem with your new blinds, the NuStyle 10-Year Guarantee (5-Years on outdoor blinds) protects you. If you do notice a problem, call us on 1300 798 776, and one of our technicians will come out as soon as possible.
